Part of the 19th International Conference on
Medical Image Analysis Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention (MICCAI 2016)

(1)RATIONALE AND AIMS
We propose to follow the success of the first two MICCAI workshops on Ophthalmic Medical Image Analysis (MW-OMIA) with a third edition.
The first MW_OMIA (MICCAI 2014, Boston) attracted 24 submissions from 11 countries, representing the majority of the most visible research groups in the field. It was attended by 35 registered participants, a considerable number for a first half-day workshop. The 2nd MW_OMIA (MICCAI 2015, Munich) attracted 30 submissions, and 20 papers were accepted from 10 countries with the double-blind reviews from 18 reviewers. It was attended by more than 50 participants, a really big number for a half-day workshop. This was complemented by a comparatively good presence of eye-related paper in the main conference.
We aim to leverage this result and the extended committee members' network to attract submissions from further international groups, create a thriving discussion forum, promote interdisciplinary research, and encourage international collaborations in this increasingly active field.
